What We Do

Nudlaghi Leadership Institute strengthens leadership across Alaska through programs rooted in the land, communities, and histories that shape this place. Our work brings people into direct relationship with Alaska’s landscapes and with one another, creating the conditions for reflection, collaboration, and long‑term impact.

Nudlaghi—Dena’ina Athabascan for “silver salmon”—operates from July through early September. We offer a mix of programming open to the community as well as sessions designed for targeted groups. Each season, we host over 20 sessions, serving around 250 people.

Leadership Programming at Lake Clark National Park

At our remote camp in Lake Clark National Park, participants step away from daily pressures and reconnect with the land. Through facilitated skill‑building sessions, real‑time problem solving with peers, and opportunities for collaboration, guests engage deeply with Alaska’s landscapes and with one another. The setting itself is part of the curriculum, reinforcing reflection, humility, and connection across regions and lived experiences.

The Alaska Philanthropy Tour

We bring national funders into Alaska’s communities—urban, rural, and off the road system—to learn directly from local leaders. By experiencing Alaska’s geography, cultures, and priorities firsthand, funders gain a more accurate understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing the state. This place‑based learning has already led to deeper engagement and increased investment in Alaska.

Across both programs, we create opportunities for leaders and partners to confront the most pressing issues facing Alaska today—issues that can only be understood through direct connection to the people and places most affected.
