Before you Apply

Our sessions are designed to bring together a mix of people, experiences, and perspectives from across Alaska. Your application helps us understand your goals, your leadership context, and whether a particular session is the right fit. It also helps us ensure we are reaching a broad cross‑section of communities and planning for your safety, comfort, and full participation at camp. All information is reviewed with care and kept confidential within our team.

Before applying, please take a moment to review our cancellation policy so you know what to expect.

Camp Payment & Cancellation Policy

Camp Payment 

Community Session Participants receive one invoice after their application is reviewed. Payment is due within 30 days or before the session begins, whichever comes first.

  • Participants supported by external scholarships may follow additional partner requirements. NLI coordinates directly with scholarship partners on invoicing.

​Cancellation by a Group Booking

    • More than 30 Days Before Camp Start

        o Full refund if NLI identifies a replacement, minus a $75 administrative fee.

        o If no replacement is found, 50% of session cost refunded.

• 8–29 Days Before Camp Start

        o Full refund if NLI identifies a replacement, minus a $75 administrative fee.

        o If no replacement is found, 1/3 of session cost refunded.

• 0–7 Days Before Camp Start

        o Full refund if NLI identifies a replacement, minus a $75 administrative fee.

        o If no replacement is found, no refund issued.

Weather‑Out Policy

Because access to camp depends entirely on safe flying conditions, all sessions are subject to weather‑related cancellation. Our priority will always be to fly to camp; however, if flying is not possible, the session will be canceled and all participant fees will be fully refunded.

 

NLI will not organize an alternative gathering, but participants and the facilitator are welcome to meet informally in Anchorage if they wish to use the scheduled time together. Any such gathering would be optional and self‑organized.

Cancellations by Participants

Refunds depend on how close the cancellation is to the camp start date.

  • More than 30 days out: Full refund minus a $75 administrative fee.

  • 8–29 days out: 

    • Full refund if NLI fills your spot (minus the $75 fee).

    • If not filled, 50% refund.

  • 0–7 days out: 

    • Full refund if NLI fills your spot (minus the $75 fee).

    • If not filled, no refund.

 

Cancellations by Scholarship Recipients

  • If NLI fills the spot, the scholarship may be transferred with partner approval.

  • If the spot cannot be filled, NLI notifies the partner, and the recipient becomes ineligible for another scholarship for one year.

  • Scholarship recipients may request an exception for documented medical or family emergencies; requests must be submitted in writing.

Cancellations by NLI

If NLI must cancel a session due to safety, weather, or other unforeseen circumstances, all participants and partners receive a full refund of fees paid.
